MKWC Launches New Early Career Restoration Internship Program

The Mid Klamath Watershed Council (MKWC) is excited to announce the launch of a new Mid Klamath Early Career Restoration Internship, a paid, 3-month opportunity designed to support local early-career individuals interested in natural resource restoration and monitoring.

This program provides hands-on work experience, career exploration, and skill-building for people who want to learn more about careers in watershed restoration, fisheries, plants, fire, and forestry. Selected interns will be supported in enrolling at College of the Redwoods to earn Work Experience course credit during the internship.

Interns will rotate through MKWC’s Plants, Fisheries, and Fire & Forestry programs, spending approximately 75% of their time in the field and 25% in office-based work and training. Interns will work alongside MKWC staff, integrate into existing crews, participate in job shadowing, and receive both technical and career readiness training.

In addition to hands-on restoration and monitoring work, interns will have opportunities to build foundational professional skills such as computer literacy, résumé and interview preparation, and career exploration through mentorship and partner-led trainings.

This internship reflects MKWC’s ongoing commitment to supporting local workforce development and creating accessible pathways into natural resource careers for youth and early-career community members in the mid-Klamath region. The program is launching as a pilot to inform and expand future early career development opportunities and is designed for post-high school individuals who are not currently enrolled in a higher education institution.

Applications are now open. Apply here.
