Earth Day Celebration

On Earth Day, MKWC’s Community & Stewardship Program hosted another successful community event focused primarily on hands-on-learning, connecting, and learning/caring about this place we call HOME! Happy Camp Elementary School and homeschool TK-4th grade students spent the day rotating through engaging stations led in partnership with the Karuk Department of Natural Resources, Karuk Fisheries, and Save California Salmon.

Each station gave the kids a chance to learn about natural resources, culture and stewardship in a fun and interactive way. There was lots of laughter, kids running from station to station, and excitement throughout the day. We even got a mix of spring weather with a little sprinkle and some sunshine.

It was a great day for our youth and community, and ended with lunch and live music from local favorite Basketball Bob, bringing everyone together to wrap up a great Earth Day celebration.

Thank you to our partners, volunteers, and funders who helped make this day possible, including the Karuk Tribe, Save California Salmon, California Natural Resources Agency, and Humboldt Area Foundation. Sponsored with assistance from the Karuk Tribe.

We appreciate everyone who helped create such a meaningful day!
